Cold-Brewed Iced Coffee

This cold-brewed iced coffee is the perfect pick-me-up on a hot summer day. The slow-brewing process gives the coffee a smooth, rich flavor without any of the bitterness that can come from traditional hot-brewed coffee. Plus, it's incredibly easy to make and can be stored in the fridge for days, making it a great option for busy mornings or a refreshing afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 4 cups of cold water
  • Optional add-ins: milk, cream, sweetener, flavorings like vanilla extract or cinnamon

Directions

  1. Start by measuring out one cup of coarsely ground coffee beans. You can grind your own beans or purchase pre-ground coffee, just make sure it's coarse.
  2. Combine the coffee grounds and four cups of cold water in a large jar or pitcher. Stir to make sure all the grounds are fully saturated.
  3. Cover the jar or pitcher with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. Let it steep for at least 12 hours, but up to 24 hours for a stronger flavor.
  4. Once the coffee has finished steeping, remove it from the fridge and strain it through a fine-mesh sieve or a cheesecloth-lined strainer to remove the coffee grounds.
  5. At this point, you can enjoy the cold-brewed coffee over ice as is, or you can add milk, cream, sweetener, or flavorings to taste.
  6. If you're not planning on drinking all of the coffee at once, it can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Just give it a quick stir before serving, as the coffee may settle over time.
  7. Serve your delicious cold-brewed iced coffee and enjoy!
