This cold-brewed iced coffee is the perfect pick-me-up on a hot summer day. The slow-brewing process gives the coffee a smooth, rich flavor without any of the bitterness that can come from traditional hot-brewed coffee. Plus, it's incredibly easy to make and can be stored in the fridge for days, making it a great option for busy mornings or a refreshing afternoon treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of coarsely ground coffee beans
- 4 cups of cold water
- Optional add-ins: milk, cream, sweetener, flavorings like vanilla extract or cinnamon
Directions
- Start by measuring out one cup of coarsely ground coffee beans. You can grind your own beans or purchase pre-ground coffee, just make sure it's coarse.
- Combine the coffee grounds and four cups of cold water in a large jar or pitcher. Stir to make sure all the grounds are fully saturated.
- Cover the jar or pitcher with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. Let it steep for at least 12 hours, but up to 24 hours for a stronger flavor.
- Once the coffee has finished steeping, remove it from the fridge and strain it through a fine-mesh sieve or a cheesecloth-lined strainer to remove the coffee grounds.
- At this point, you can enjoy the cold-brewed coffee over ice as is, or you can add milk, cream, sweetener, or flavorings to taste.
- If you're not planning on drinking all of the coffee at once, it can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Just give it a quick stir before serving, as the coffee may settle over time.
- Serve your delicious cold-brewed iced coffee and enjoy!
