- 2 cups granulated sugar

- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream

- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix on low speed until just combined.
- With the mixer on low speed, slowly pour in the hot water and mix until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
